Unification Minister Lim Dong-won on August 22 told a meeting of the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) that it was ��in no way a fact�� that he ignored the opposition of security agencies in giving approval for the recent visit by a Southern delegation to Pyongyang. Now Grand National Party (GNP) Assembly member Park Myung-hwan has disclosed a document from the Ministry of Justice which makes it clear Lim was lying. The document was delivered to the unification ministry on August 14th,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], well before it made its final decision on sending people to North Korea, and it explains in clear language why the justice ministry believed they should not be permitted to go.
The justice ministry's position was that the North might use the Southern delegation for its own propaganda,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sending the delegation might be perceived as an expression of support for the North's strategies for reunification,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some of the delegates had criminal records for violating the National Security Law (NSL),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and with delegates from the Southern Headquarters of the All-Korea Alliance for Reunification (Beom Min Nyeon) and Han Chong Nyeon involved,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some might engage in activity advantageous to the enemy. The Bank of Korea (BOK) forecasted that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will rise 3.9 percent next year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], up 2.8 percent from this year.
